5 and 10
I’ve been accused of being very all or nothing.
I have a hard time not eating every king sized Milky Way I come across, so my tactic is usually to avoid Milky Ways all together.
This is true for everything in my life.
I legitimately think it’s easier to fully commit to things than it is to live with balance and moderation.
Moderation doesn’t work for me. It never has and it never will. I don’t think it works for many people. Most of the people I meet would be better off quitting alcohol completely than pretending like they have a healthy relationship with alcohol.
Moderation goes against human nature. It isn’t in line with our innate survival mechanisms.
That’s why Jules and I are upping the anti with our challenge.
Last time, we did a 5 and 5.
The idea is that you pick 5 daily habits you wish to achieve every day for 5 weeks. This time around, we’re doing a 5 and 10. 5 daily habits every day for 10 weeks.
Mine are …
Ice bath every day.
Wim Hof breathe work every day.
Read every day.
Write my blog post every day.
Workout every day. Rest day on Friday.
Monday - Weights
Tuesday - Weights
Wednesday - Weights
Thursday - Muay Thai
Friday - Rest Day
Saturday - Muay Thai and sparring
Sunday - Rowing or run around the lake.
The thing is, I think I’m right on this one. I think it’s better to be all in on whatever it is you want to do.
The best bet is to decide on the person you want to be, then do the things that person would do, and don’t do any of the things that person wouldn’t do,
Before long, you are that person. It doesn’t take as long as you think.
It’s not black and white and it’s not a lack of balance. It’s simple cause and effect.
10 weeks. Starting now.
