Honoring My Mornings

Up until Julian was born, I followed the same sleep and awakening schedule every night, almost like clockwork.

At 9 o’clock, we went to bed. I would read or chat with Jules until we fell asleep. At 4:30 (ish) I would wake up, go downstairs, chug water, get coffee, grab my notebook and sit in my bedroom chair while I journaled, organized my thoughts and planned my day. Then I would read for 30-40 minutes and take notes on what I read.

At that point, I would be ready to get up, get to my computer and get to work.

By the time I start working, I would have already spent an hour on myself and my mental clarity. I love it. I love having total focus in the mornings to keep my life in order.

Obviously, having our son changed that.

For the last 6 weeks, I’ve been staying up late so Jules can sleep from 8 - 11 until I wake her up to feed Julian. Luckily, I think we are finally hitting a routine where little man will fall asleep on his own at 9 o’clock. Last night was the first time that we were all able to be in bed by just after 9 PM.

I woke up this morning and I have been feeling great. I’ve already done my journaling. I’ve planned out my day. I’m ready to take on the week.

I hope this is here to stay.
