We all chase status. There’s a reason for it, and it’s important to understand so you prevent yourself from judging yourself too hard when you catch yourself “chasing shiny objects.” For the vast majority of humanity, status was a much greater indicator of success than anything else. If you had status, you were able to stay alive. That’s why we care about it so much, even though status has basically no utility in the modern world.
